I am a Fiber Artist
My passion for weaving began in 2002, starting with weaving banners and prayer flags, and spread to encompass tapestry and other fiber arts. I am self taught, using books, videos, and occasional workshops to advance my knowledge and skills.
The calm meditative process of tapestry allows my spirit to grow as the weaving takes shape. Working with the different fibers and threads gives my fingers the connection to textures, smooth and rough, that adds purpose to the design. My tapestries give me a sense of connectedness to a particular time and place, providing a sense of comfort to my mind as I face the social concerns prevalent in our lives today.
Aside from tapestry, my weaving focus has been on designing and weaving banners and prayer flags in double weave pickup. Recently I’ve been experimenting with mixing felting with weaving. We will see where that takes me. My fiber-enabling husband, David, our beagle Maudie, and I live about an hour west of Chicago, where I belong to a number of weaving and spinning guilds.
